Oregon's mayor requesting outside help but still refuses help from the National Guard. Sheriffs are denying the extra help because the DA is releasing the same rioters day after day with no charges being filed. Thoughts?

Alex Saab Subjected to Cruel and Inhuman Treatment?
Evidence is beginning to emerge that Venezuela’s Special Envoy Alex Saab is being denied his most basic and fundamental rights. This despite protestations from the Cape Verdean President Jorge Carlos Fonseca that Cape Verde was “a model democracy” and “known for upholding the rule of law.
This is clearly not a view shared by Cape Verde’s new best friends from the United States. The US State Department, in its annual review of human rights and prison conditions in Cape Verde said “Prisoners complained of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment. Inmates…had limited access to visitors and prison activities. The isolation cells were small, dark and crowded. Prison conditions were harsh & life threatening”. Saab has been held in conditions which are hard to understand if, as the Cape Verdean President claims , his country is following international norms. A two metres by two metres cell, no electricity for 23 hours a day, sanitation that would make a Mumbai slum seem luxurious and, given that Saab is a recovering cancer patient, medical care that falls well short of what is required. One can only hope that no Cape Verdean, leave alone Cape Verdean minister, ever finds themselves at the receiving end of such cruel and inhuman treatment

Have you heard of this new piece of garbage called a "cuddle curtain?"?
A translucent tarp with holes to slide your arms into plastic tubes so you can hug your loved ones because no one ever wants skin on skin contact...especially married couples.
Oh, no, someone touched someone else...the pandemic is gonna kill me.

Micro-racism is when you want to call something that isn't racist racist?
You didn't say hi to the Chinese guy you passed on the street because you were too busy with your smart phone to notice him, that's micro-racism! You don't like ribs or fried chicken because you're vegetarian, that's micro-racism! You didn't hire the black guy because he was severely under-qualified for the job, but you did hire another black guy who was qualified, that's micro-racism! Not watching UPN in early 2000s is micro-racism!

Why do I get the feeling that the government doesn't work for the people anymore?
Anytime I bring this up these government employees say stuff like "we don't work for you", and they have all these police and security guards running around trampling on our rights and freedoms. As if this is the government's country, even though the people are the ones who created the concept of government and voted them in. They were supposed to represent us and act in the best interest of the people, but instead they basically usurped everything and became the masters and we are their slaves that answer to them.
It wasn't like the government was a home-grown business that formed in someone's garage.

The things that matter to the average American will never change regardless of who is president for the following reasons. Therefore ?
Some of you all might not know this or want to believe it, but the fact is that the job of a president is too big of a job for one person, and so with any president there are people beneath him who are responsible for things that the president himself is unable to take direct charge of. To that end, all sectors of the economy are run by departments and headed by individuals who are only indirectly related to anything having to do with the president, and in fact these departments quite often don't change and certainly do not necessarily see a change in leadership or staff simply because a new president is elected.
The secretary of labor, for instance, has no fixed term and therefore there will not necessarily be a new one when there is a new president, meaning that issues with jobs or lack thereof can be strongly attributed to this department and the individuals in charge of it, as well as the staff. The same can be said of other economic departments such as ones related to healthcare, housing, and just about anything else that most Americans are concerned with and that cannot be directly overseen by the president himself at all times.
