  • I got laid off (Forced Leave) from work. Do I look for other jobs?

I work at a corporate travel agencyfor 4 years now. Our industry has been impacted the most due to Covid-19.

Our employer decided to lay off more than 50% of the employees for cost saving efforts. Unfortunately, I’m part of it. The deal was that we’re off of work for exactly 6 months. But once the economy’s back to normal, the company will call us to return to work. If the economy gets better.

6 months is too long to be idle so I’m thinking of doing an online job for the time being.

Would it be better to search for new job instead? Or wait for 6 months and return to work?

  • How do I leave the MLM business?

My colleague invited me for a coffee last week and said a friend of hers is looking for a business partner. I got interested and agreed to meet her. When I met her friend, he discussed about MLM so I paid a fair enough amount of money to join. He said, in order to earn more money is to invite others. He gave me a number of products in exchange for the capital.

This guy is constantly messaging me on Facebook I feel like I'm being forced to talk to others and marketing isn't really for me. How do I leave this business?

  • Should I leave my office crush alone?

I have been crushing on this guy at work for months now. I feel like he's comfortable around me that we always make fun of each other. I'm starting to develop deeper feelings for him and I know he's already taken. One time I got offended with one of his jokes that I started to ignore him. He apologized 3 days in a row. I forgive him but I feel that this is the opportunity to get some distance from him.

Should I go start talking to him again or leave the current situation as is?

  • Did I love my job too much? I didn't get the promotion. :(?

I work as a technical support agent for almost three years now. Our main tasks are to take calls and answer emails on a daily basis regarding website issues.

My team lead trusts me so much that she gave these tasks and also be a dedicated agent to one difficult client. I do reports that an agent shouldn't be doing. There are times I make mistakes and some times I get commended.

When a job post for a higher position became available, I applied right away. A lot of my colleagues were interested. To cut the story short, I didn't get the job.

I am crying while typing this and still can't believe that all my effort was all for nothing. I'm thinking of looking for a higher paying job instead of staying here where I feel unappreciated.

    I need advice. :(

  • My officemate "probably" recorder our conversation. What should I do?

We went out after shift and shared our thoughts about our boss. Mostly negative. All four of us have said bad things about our boss. I noticed that one of my officemate picked up his iPhone. He then made a tight grasp on it and I saw that the screen is lighted up. First thing that came to my mind was that he's probably recording our conversation all along. Am I being diusional or should I be worried?

  • Is this infatuation or am I really falling in love with him? Maybe a crush? I'm gay. He's straight.?

I have this officemate who is genuinely nice to everybody. Including me. We usually talk about non work related stuff. I feel like he gets me and I get him. We get teased a lot by our officemates and I don't see him getting mad or disgusted at all. Funny thing is, he has a girlfriend.

I keep telling myself that he's just a friend but I couldn't stop thinking about him. Help!

  • My manager is obviously besties with my kiss *** officemate. Should I change department?

My boss is very close to my officemate. Everyone knows they get along so much that he became his right hand immediately. One day this officemate of mine asked me to take his place for an upcoming meeting. I had tons of work to do so I refused. He then told our manager that I should be going to the meeting instead. I still declined the meeting and our manager got mad. This isn't the first time my officemate asked for a favor. BTW, the meeting will start 30 minutes after his day ends so I told him to just wait but he didn't want to either.

I know explaining my side wouldn't matter. Should I just leave and switch departments?

  • Do I have a right to refuse a meeting invite?

I'm working as a call center agent here in the Philippines. My manager appointed me as one of the POCs alongside my colleague. Earlier today, the other POC asked me to take his place for a meeting since his shift is about to end. I refused due to the number of emails and other tasks I'm working on.

Our manager is obviously siding with the other POC as he keeps on asking me to join. I stood by my decision and still declined. He got mad. My manager asked why I don't want to join and ended up questioning my capability. When I got back from lunch, this other POC was sarcastically making comments and asked if I was happy that the meeting is cancelled. Making it seem like it's my fault.

  • My officemate is being unfair. How can I approach him assertively without getting offended?

We answer calls and emails on a daily basis. An employee can answer an average of 20 emails a day. Our supervisor used to assign my officemate as the "Person In Charge" whose task is to distribute email to the rest of the team among other office tasks.

There was a recent change in the set up and the role was given to another employee. However, he keeps on volunteering in distributing the emails so that, as he said, the new person-in-charge can focus on the other tasks.

It was all good when I saw his productivity. I know it's very unprofessional of me to go through this but finding out that he's not answering enough emails as the rest, it's very unfair. Note that he talks a lot so it's evident that he isn't as busy as us.

  • I keep getting escalations at work lately, should I quit?

My boss have been receiving bad feedback from our client. When they went through the backlogs, they noticed that some were my deliverables.

I used to ace my work before and got commendations out of it. Lately, its the opposite. To make things worse, they're feedback from our client's CEE.

I'm starting to question myself if I stay or not.

  • My work gives me anxiety. Should I quit?

Everytime I make a mistake at the office or get into a little arguement with my officemate, it makes me very anxious. I couldn't sleep. I feel like the whole world is against me and that I am not good enough. This is the first time I felt this. Should I quit?

  • Telling that your officemate uses Grindr.?

Our trainer introduced this new guy to the whole team. I then pointed out and personally introduced hin to my other gay officemate.

He thought I was embarassing him, he pointed out that the new guy and me have something alike (balding). A lot laughed. So I then followed it up with a punchline saying my officemate is active in Grindr(Gay social media app). A lot more laughed.

After the meeting, my officemate started to ignore me. Saying I was below the belt. How do I say that I was just joking?

  • I got into a conflict with my officemate. Should I apologize?

Our department answers emails from clients on a daily basis. We usually have an agreement to answer each mail in 4 hours. We have to answer emails on a FIFO basis. So I went to the office and was handed over an email I replied to last Friday. It turns out that the email was already past 4 hours. I got mad thinking that my officemate intentionally didn't answer it and just waited for me. I sent a message to the whole group about how upset I am.

When my officemate found out about the message and how upset I was, he got mad too. We explained our sides but it felt like it's not resolved. Should I apologize?

  • Do I have insomnia? Should I consult a psychiatrist right away?

It started just this Sunday when I can't sleep. I was awake for 2 straight days hence I didn't go to work. My boss was mad and felt it was a petty reason. The next day I got 5 hours of sleep and the day after that I can't sleep again. So I didn't go to work. Again. I am worried that I'll just mess everything up if I force myself. I need help.

  • I lied. If you were my employer, will you forgive me?

Our company recently gave us annual salary increase. I was the first employee to be interviewed and asked how I feel about it.

Since I know how hard I've been working, I told them that it was significantly lower than I expected. They asked how much was I expecting and I told them the numbers. They said that it was too big and our deparment's cost center couldn't handle that big of an increase per employee. They followed with another question of how did I come up with the numbers. I lied to them. I said that a former colleage of mine, who resigned, know someone who got a high increase. I did this just to get over with the question. That person told my bosses the truth. Now the bosses are shocked about what I did and they're furious.

  • My new employer kept on pushing my start date. Should I wait or look for a new job?

It has been a month now but they have not informed me yet when will I start. They kept on pushing and pushing the start date and their alibi is the medical exam. I have not done it yet because they have to send me an email to present it to the clinic. I verified the email and it is correct. I have already signed the contract too but I am tired of waiting and I'm losing my savings for being idle this long. I sent them emails for an update but I don't get any reply. Tried calling them too but they refused to talk to me and the secretary kept on telling me that they'll just send the details via text or email.
