I purchased four Goodyear American Eagle performance tires for my Grand Prix a bit less than 2 years ago, they had a 70,000 mile warranty on them. When I took them in for a rotation (yes, first time in those 2 years - bad I know) they brought to my attention that the edge of the inner sidewall was ripped at the rim, it looked like someone had ripped a flap out of my tire. I had purchased a tire warranty to replace any defective ones when I bought the tires. I have ALWAYS had trouble keeping enough air in that particular tire since I bought them. Since this couldn't be repaired, they said they would replace the tire at a discount. Apparently my tire was not in stock, so the cashier just told them to put on a Goodyear Viva 2. I asked her if it was comparable to my current performance tires in mileage/warranty/tread/quality and she claimed the only difference was tread pattern. Being tired and having a cartload of groceries that were melting, I said if thats so just put it on. When I got home, I started looking things up and found its only a low-quality passenger tire marketed exclusively by WalMart and made in China with a 50,000 mile warranty. ALL reviews stated the tire goes bad within 6 months, in some cases the sidewall more or less melted. Would I be in the right to confront a manager about this to have them order the exact tire I had on my car in the first place?
