  • Issue with Italian meringue ?

I love making Italian meringue, usually as a base for an Italian meringue buttercream or Macarons, but I encounter the same issue every single time I’m adding the hot sugar syrup to the egg whites. A BUNCH of the syrup splatters up onto the sides of the bowl and hardens. It hasn’t had a noticeable effect on the end result, but it’s still bothersome and I want to know if there’s a proper way to pour in the sugar syrup that reduces the splatter. I’m adding it VERY slowly and in a thin stream, so that’s not the issue.

  • I’m developing a cake recipe and whatever I do, there are always large air bubbles in the cake?

I’m not over mixing my batter, I’m sifting my dry ingredients, I’m tapping the pan VIGOROUSLY on the counter, but no matter what I do, HUGE AIR BUBBLES! The ingredient proportions are as follows:

    1 cup flour

    1 cup sugar

    3/4 cup cocoa powder

    1/2 tsp baking powder

    1 tsp baking soda

    1 tsp salt

    2 eggs

    1/3 cup oil

    2 tsp vanilla

    3/4 cup coffee

    1/4 cup sour cream

    1/2 cup buttermilk

The texture and flavor is otherwise perfect, and I’d have to assume that the bubbles have to do with the proportions of baking soda and baking powder, but I don’t know how I’d adjust them without compromising the fluffiness of my cake.

  • Is it just me? Or...?

My parents want to buy another tv. A third one. A third tv. For OUTSIDE. We don’t even USE the second tv we have upstairs. Is it just me, or is this a terribly stupid investment at a time like this? Money isn’t infinite. Last year, they came home with this patio heater from Costco, and guess how many times we’ve used THAT. I DONT KNOW, because I’ve NEVER seen them turn it on! This just angers me. They said we needed to tighten up, not spend us much. Now they’re about to buy a freaking television. What can I say to convince them to spend this money elsewhere?!

  • What does sleep paralysis feel like?

This morning after class i was tired and decided to take a quick a nap. I was in some sort of weird dream, one that I remember a weirdly large amount of, until i realized in the dream that i had the ability to make things appear, which made my brain go, “This is a dream”. Idk if it was part of the dream but as soon as I realized I was asleep I was overcome by this pulling feeling, as if I was being pulled from the dream. The next thing I knew was feeling like I was back in my room, but only partially. My eyes were still closed, and my whole body had this fuzzy feeling and there was this loud static in my ears. I felt like I was floating in some void, and I couldn’t move my hands or neck (and idk if this is relevant but I also felt like I was laying on my back only to fully wake up and be laying on my stomach). My first thought was that I was experiencing sleep paralysis bc I know of its association with lucid dreams, but unlike the horror experiences that I’ve heard people make sleep paralysis out to be, it was rather peaceful, and not at all scary. Whatever the feeling was, it lasted less than a minute and I fully woke up. I’m still unsure of whether or not this was sleep paralysis or part of a dream, or whether I was just dreaming about lucid dreaming (it’s happened before, rather disappointing). Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone has had similar experiences, and whether or not they consider it to be sleep paralysis.
