78% of Swedes belong to the Church of Sweden, but the number is decreasing by about one percent every year. Children automatically become members of the Church of Sweden at birth, provided at least one of the parents is a member and does not renounce membership on behalf of the child within six weeks. But being a member of the Church of Sweden does not mean you are religious. 89% of the 78% of Swedes that belong to the Church of Sweden do not attend church on a regular basis and don't follow the bible. 100,000 Eastern Orthodox Christians living in Sweden. Some 275,000 Swedes are members of various free churches and immigration has meant that there are now some 92,000 Roman Catholic. Due to immigration, Sweden also has a significant Muslim population. As many as 500,000 are Muslims and between 80,000 - 400,000 actively practice Islam. There are a few Jews, Buddhists and Hindus. Sweden has a large minority who have no religion. Swedish society is known to be comparatively secular and non-religious.

Values vary per person just like in America or any other country.

The main language of Swedish is Swedish. Arabic, Persian, Finnish, and Polish are common in Sweden though due to immigration. In schools Swedish is mainly taught and German and English is taught as second language.

Mr=Hr. (Hr=Herr)
Mrs=Fru (Fru is not a short form, but same word as "wife")
Miss=Frk. (Frk=Fröken, an old word nowadays mostly used in the meaning of "school teacher" or similar)

These address forms are nowadays very seldom used, and normally most seen as a joke or in very special circumstances, like funerals or ceremonial surroundings.
There is also the "german" way to address someone, ("Herr Dipl. Dr. Messner") by his or her title, it can at rare occasions be seen when IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE, almost never as a kind of certain respectful addressing. Some people actually get offended by a too formal addressing.
Just by using someone's full name, you are addressing someone in an acceptable way. Only the surname are the correct way in most situations.
Example: In a TV show, when the interviewer is talking to a person, after presentation it's most likely he/she says "John" instead of Mr. Smith, when addressing his/her guest.
Never "John Smith, PhD", but "John Smith, doctor at the X hospital".

In Sweden people are expected to act formally in public. Informality is not socially accepted.

Fashion is extremely important in Sweden. Its part of the culture. When going to visit someones house you should not be expecting a full meal, just snacks. You never kiss a friend or family member as a greeting, just a hug is normal, (or handshake.

Swedes are hard working, but also like relaxing and having time to themselves. family almost always comes first in sweden.

Personal grooming varies per person. But most swedes are well groomed and very clean. If your not well kept ur not socially accepted.

Family is important in Sweden. Family always comes first!

The main holidays are Jul (Christmas), Trettondedag jul, Påsk (Easter), Kristi himmelsfärds dag (Ascension Day), Pingstdagen (Pentecost) and Alla helgons dag (All Saints). The non-Christian holidays are: Nyårsdagen (New Year's Day), Första maj (International Workers' Day), Sveriges nationaldag (National Day) and Midsommar (Midsummer).

Hope this helps :)
