In most cases, I wouldn't say so. It seems more like a mix of craving to be unique/have unique experiences and the power of perception. The human mind really can do crazy things, if you believe something utterly.

Or, heck, there could be ghosts. X3

Yeah, I also think so as well... but, I am an Agnostic Atheist, so I can't be specific, it could happen...

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask mental health experts?

All I can say is they are nuts :P
