Is it easy to find budget hotel/motel (less than A$100) in Tasmania during late Sept?

Thinking of going to Hobart, Cradle Mountain, Launceston over a 10 days period. Should I book over the internet now or wait until i get there or will it be better to rent a camper van for 2 persons?

Wotif is a good place to start, however as the range of hotels in Hobart is quite small and they can vary quite a bit also some of those listed as Hobart are actually quite a bit out of town so you should check this carefully. The Mercure, Rydges and Quest generally offer good accommodation in central locations.
You could also check out a number of B&Bs, September is still lower season but you may not get the type of hotel you want

Campervans are popular when travelling around the state however there is nowhere in the city to park (unless you use the domain which does not offer power, water etc) the closest would be at the showgrounds in Glenorchy

    Hey

    check out www.wotif.com
they have cheap rooms (well some cheap some expensive but you can select the search parameters).

As for renting a camper van...it all comes down to petrols costs and also there is currently a real shortage of caravan parks (which you would need to go because you can't just park anywhere) and also from the caravan perspective if you're planning on exploring Hobart or Launceston it'll be a REAL issue finding somewhere to park a caravan in the city...

In the end, it comes down to your budget!

I would suggest wotif also, but consider on-site cabins in caravan parks and a cheap rental car. Small cars from major renters, or cheap cars from budget renters. Most major cites/towns have close or local caravan parks with cabins or on-site vans
