Is it too cold in Shanghai now or January to even explore it by walking?

I am planning to go Shanghai for business trip on the 9th of January and i plan to do some roaming. The problem with Shanghai is that there is no heater or such and it's really a need to buy lots of sweaters to cope with the cold. So i need advise as to whether is it too cold to even walk around to do some exploration?

You'll need to wear a little more perhaps, but be thankful you're not here in Harbin. It's so cold up here in the north my pants must wear pants.
Layers on layers.
As I hear, Shanghai isn't so cold, I'd bring some extra clothes, and if you find it's not enough, buy some more there. Going to China I'll assume you can afford a little clothing money there.

Enjoy yourself there, China is a magical place.

that depends on what country you come from... if you are from Africa you will feel cold... if you are from Northern Europe you will feel fine... generally it's not cold but it's humid thus it's not about "lots of sweaters" but about "dress smart"... basically it may be 0 or -5, which means gloves and caps are needed but the fur coat is out of use... and there are heaters in the hotels, yet maybe not in every... and there are heaters in the buses too... in addition to the the underground is the place to hide from cold and to get almost to everywhere you need... shops are usually heater with A/Cs...
the conclusion: no it's not cold there...

it will be below 0 C, or 25-32 F in the morning and evening in some days in Jan. All the decent hotels should have heating. Shanghainese wear sweaters indoor so they don't have to heat up home to 70F. Most homes have some kind of heating (eg. space heater). Where did you get the information that there is no heater in Shanghai?

In Jan. it is cold in the morning and in the evening, usually below zero: In the daytime, it should be O.K. to walk around, if the wind is mild.

you won't feel cold if you walk in down or fur. and it's very easy to buy an electric heater in the store.
