Are you aware that Canberra is not the most central place between the two?

In Canberra I stay at either the Medina Executive James Court - one bedroom apartment $160 or the Novotel. They are both central and easy walking distance.

Also in Sydney there are Medina and Quest - apartments and the Accor chain. There is usually something to suit everyones budget.

In Canberra the shopping centres are beginning to look decent, in a suburb called Gunghlan (sp) is a new development worth a visit. Also The mint, Old and New Parliament house, Cockington Green, The National Museum, Australian Institute of Sport, The War Memorial, Questacon. It's very much a historical city, full of Australians past.

Sydney theres the usual. Darling Harbour, Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Bridge Walk, Blue Mountains is a nice drive, so to is the Southern Highlands. Shopping, nightlife, all your usual tourist things.

    Hi,

Thanks for visiting Canberra our great Nations Capital and a great capital city to visit as well.

As for things to see and do in Canberra the best thing to do is to have a look at our tourism website where you'll be able to look up information on what attractions you'd be interested to see such as the Australian War Memorial, National Museum of Australia, Parliament House, Old Parliament House, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy which is located directly opposite the Old Parliament House, and a number of other attractions.

You can also book accommodation online on our tourism website as well. However if your interested in something cheap and really close to the city centre and safe and friendly accommodation I'd recommend staying at the Canberra City YHA (Youth Hostels of Australia) they have dorm rooms and private rooms.

You also don't need to be a member either but non members will be charged at a slightly higher rate but only around a few dollars extra. It's only a bed for two nights so probably a good place to stay if your on a budget.

All the other hotels and motels are all a bit more expensive but you'd need to ring up beforehand to check to see if there's any rooms available at other accommodation places otherwise give the Canberra and Regional Visitors Centre a call and they'll be able to help you out as well.

The Canberra City YHA is located right in the city centre and is walking distance to the main shopping centre which is the Canberra Centre and there's a great cinema there as well with plenty of restaurants and cafes and nightclubs in and around the city centre.

To get information on other accommodation places you can stay at and tourist attractions to see just visit our tourism website for more details or give them a call during normal business hours 7 days a week.

I hope you this helps you with your questions.

If you would like any other information about visiting or moving to Canberra please either visit the website or contact me directly on the email below.

    Thank you
