Bush? Is he really such a bad leader?

Question

There have been people in the UK protesting because they don't like him, mainly because of the War in Iraq. I don't believe in War so much, but after thinking about it for a while I came to the conclusion that, I don't see how Bush is such a bad leader as people make him out to be? We do what we have to and though it may not be the right thing in the end, at the time it was the only solution to our problems, or so that's how we saw it. I think that the War was necessary to protect the USA and peace within it and essentially World Peace. I personally think that people should be grateful that their country has at least a half decent president whom is not so insane and murdering not only people of a different culture or race but their own people too!What I call a bad leader are people like the Mbeki/ Zuma (ANC) Mugabe (Zanu- PF)

What's your views on this? Perhaps I am missing out on something and Bush is terrible?

Ingy I can understand that. Nothing anyone can so or do will bring back those soldiers. I am not saying War was right at all, but how else can you protect your nation without laying down the laws because those terrorists ain't gonna stop at nothing! Maybe War was the only way? Like war will be the only way to kick Mugabe out of Zimbabwe because he WILL NOT willingly stand down and to be frank I don't think the terrorist would do the same do you? Not after the 9/ 11.

First I wanna enhance that USA is not company and he is responsible for millions of people ,people do mistakes every day leader maybe some small mistakes but president of USA I don’t think it acceptable or any other president.

He's not as bad as people make out. He just made a mistake about weapons of mass destruction. He's much better than Gordon Brown. He let his religious views get in the way though. And that was a bad idea.

I have never been a Bush supporter--father or son. George W makes me cringe when he speaks. I didn't support the war in Iraq. I deplore some of the current energy policies. However, in comparison around the world, we could do a whole lot worse, and there IS a system of checks and balances which tends to keep things somewhat in default mode. Mbeki/Zuma and Mugabe have too many fellows in international government and power who put themselves and their followers above the common good in a way that is much more serious than a tax break, which tends to be the US's way of rewarding cronyism. And I can go in almost every neighborhood day or night without fear and can call on the police with some confidence that something will be done.

The other thing for me is that it is a tremendous burden to be the leader whom everyone in the world watches and critiques. We have much to improve and much of which to be ashamed--hey, many of us are Calvinists, after all--but at the same time we can have a peaceful transition of power and have viable candidates elected who are not your usual good old boys, and there are not many places that can say that.

Iraq was not really a threat to the US or any other Western country, hell Saddam hated terrorists and kept them out of the area. As evil as he was he kept the area under control something the Americans can only dream of achieving. More Iraqis probably die at the hands of these terrorists that did at the hands of Saddam.
But the US government doesn´t seem to care, all they care about is oil and their "image".
Saddam didn´t have any "weapons of mass-destruction" and the US government knew that all along they just used it as an excuse to go in there.
Sure Bush looks great next to a third world warmonger and a corrupt little demagogue but is that something you want to compare the leader of the most powerful country in the world to? Should that have been his slogan "Better than Mugabe"?
NO I think the leader of the world most powerful country should have and IQ above mental retardation, under Bush’s “supervision” he has sent the country spiralling into recession which not only affects the US but every country in the world that does any form of business with them.

I always find it interesting that Zuma is thought to be so bad.

He is certainly quite gifted at keeping all sides pleased. He also shows a lot more interest in South Africa than Mbeki ever did. Sure his ethics might not always be stellar but at least he is far more intelligent than George Bush.
