It is a separate group where all variables are known and predictable.
A group where the factor being tested is not being applied so it can be compared to the group where the factor is being applied.

a thing that undergoes avery variable except the independant variable (the one being investigated) to make sure that it is this factor causing the change.

the separate group that u use to compare to the group that ur changing for example:
if ur growing plants with soda, the control wuld b the group of plants growing with water normally
the noncontrol wuld b the group of plants watered with soda. u compare the control group with the group ur testing

Something where you do not alter any of the variables. This gives you a baseline to measure other results against.
If you wanted to see the effect of dieting on people, you could put three on one diet, three on another, and three who didn't change their eating habits.
The unchanged three are your control, and you would then be able to see if your diets actually had any effect.

a controled experiment is making sure that you only test one variable at a time when using the scientific method.
observe
question
hypothesis
experiment
record
conclude
thats what i learned
the control is the common factor used a a base.

when your testing something, its the part that doesn't change. usually the part that has a result already known for example:
If i wanted to know what color light plants grow best in. I would choose red light, blue light yellow ect. My control would be sunlight. Which is actually a collection of all light.
I would compare how plants grow in different colors to something that was natural like the sun (the control).

its what everything else in the experiment gets compared to & it dosnt change. if you didnt have it the experiment wouldnt make any sense because you would be testing it with no info on how 2. & the varrible is what is being changed in the experiment.
