I want to download the Gentoo DVD installer- but the torrent is ridiculously slow! How can I get this faster?

Question

This 3.5GB file is loading at the same rate as they would if I had DIAL-UP! I have cable internet, so it isn't my connection. (I've checked my speed and the speed is very good)

Additional Details

I'm fine using something other then torrent- but I can't find a place where that is available.

ast, those mirrors are for "CDs, LiveCDs and GRP "

I want the DVD. I've tried those mirrors- adn the CDs always work fine.

Hi, well the torrents r slow because not many people may be downloading Gentoo right now, torrents speed up as the number of people downloading them increase. I really suggest that u use the torrent though cause that would assure that u get an un corrupted image to burn on to a dvd. A corrupted iso file could cause huge problems later in the operating system.

Good Luck with Gentoo though, I don't even want to remember how difficult I found it, but it helped me learn a lot about Linux. Maybe try downloading it at another time when more people r seeding it.

Its not your or your systems fault if the download is slow, thats just how torrents work, but r u using a good torrent client to download it. I would suggest u try Azureus, I usually always have good speeds with that. Large DVD downloads r usually always downloaded with torrents so that may be why u can't find a link for a regular download and there r many browsers that don't support downloading files larger than 2 gb.

Thank you. I found a torrent client. (fast torrent??? I don't know) Anyways, it came with spyware (which I caught and blocked) but it worked amzingly. I don't know what changed. I got it finished in a semi-reasonable ammount of time. (still slow- but managable slow)
