Puerto Plata Honeymoon?

Question

I am going to the Dominican Republic in the first week in May for my honeymoon. We should be staying in Puerto Plata at the Rui Mambo. I would love some tips on things to do and things to avoid.

well....i am from puerto plata and is is a beautiful place im sure you and your husband will have fun .if you're staying in a resort make sure to get out and visit la isabela ,its a charming little town with beautiful scenery and little color houses and lots of friendly people.

The Figi answer was so not helpful. If I wanted to go to Figi for a honeymoon I would have asked a Figi question.
Thanks for the two good answers. I picked the winner because she did give me advice for things to look for off the beaten path. No way are we just staying in the resort! :)

My god! that person is fu*king annoying! They post the same thing for every question with 'honeymoon' in the title.
Anyway, I havn't been to Puerto Plata but would suggest you go to your travel agent as they can advise you (and even book) tours and activities. It will be hot so I will always suggest cocktails on the beach!
