How can i boost my sex drive? I take Lexapro?

I take 20 mg of Lexapro everyday to keep me from falling into depression. I really like Lexapro and dont plan on stopping or changing to another med. BUT.....

It's gotta be the reason my sex drive has gone to zero!! I DONT like that at all. I have a fiance of 4 years (and we love having sex) I just cant get in the mood anymore. I would just rather go to bed. I just dont feel like it. That's not me at all.

Is there anything i can take or do to counteract this??

Hey : ) I can't really agree with the guy who said that if you exercise you won't need medication. But maybe it would help with the sex drive. It's a thought anyhow. Anyway I have BP I and I take Lexapro. It has affected my libido but it was sort of high to begin with so I feel okay. Also it improved over time. It wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to your doctor. I don't blame you for wanting to stick with what works. But there are a lot of SSRIs out there and sometimes people tolerate some better than others. Another option is Welbutrin which isn't supposed to affect your sex drive at all. As some one who has been on dozens of different meds, I do understand what you're going through. Best wishes, Elizabeth

    for sex- get a man
    for drive- get a lexus!

kidding aside- you know sometimes getting enough exercise helps reduce depression. so that way, you can drop your anti depressants, so then your sex drive will return. full force!

I'm not aware of anything that will counteract this effect, but you need to call your doctor, or at least the nurse, and tell them what you're experiencing. Doctors treat the WHOLE patient, not just one thing about them. If you aren't experiencing a normal sex life, that's something that can greatly affect the rest of your well-being, your relationship, even your self-confidence. Put it to them like that, and maybe they'll be able to do something. If they don't listen or give you good reasons why they don't want to assist you, switch doctors because it's not the one you need to see.

They probably need to adjust your dosage or switch you to a different anti-depressant. Also, I urge you to seek counseling if you aren't seeing someone already, better to treat the underlying cause of depression than to subject yourself to side effects from medicene. Be confident that there is some sort of solution out there for what you are experiencing, be it a more suitable drug or something to complement it. Talk to the doctor, they should help you.
