Melbourne people are spoilt to choice as far as food is concerened. So many places to eat and drink. The specialty i would have to say is choclolate! If you want to find out the history and geography if you are in melbourne just pop down to the visitors centre at federation sqaure (opposite flinders street station)

This is really like saying "What do Americans do for a living?". There's no possible answer to this question. Australia, and especially Melbourne, is *vastly* multicultural. "People in Melbourne" are made up of individuals from every single race, color, creed, and culture of the *entire world*, from those descended from the first English settlers, to those who just arrived on a boat yesterday and don't speak two words of English. Two families who live right next door to one another in almost any suburb of Melbourne may not have one single thing in common, from their heritage, their language, their religion, their skin color, and most especially their diet!

The only solid, factual answer to "What do people in Melbourne eat?" that wouldn't be wrong or false on any level would be "food". To get even slightly more specific would be to start implying things about one person in Melbourne that wouldn't even remotely apply to the very next person.

    I hope this helps.

Melbourne is known as the food capital of Australia - some say the world, but others would seriously debate this.

Because we are a multi-cultural society, we have food from all over the world. Many years ago, meat pies would have said to be an Australian speciality, but these days, I wouldn't classify any ONE food as a specialty. It really depends on what you feel like eating. We eat Italian, Greek, Spanish, French, - any sort of European, Japanese, Chinese,- any sort of Asian, Indian, English, Irish, Scottish (although apparently it is hard to find haggis). You name it, we have it.

Melbourne's sightseeing, history and georgraphy? this page will help - just click on the links
