What I can tell you is that Vicodin is a brand name for the drug hydrocodone, a compound of acetaminophen and an opiate-derived painkiller.
Vicodin, I believe, comes in several different strengths - varying the levels of both the acetaminophen and the opiate.
Tylenol 3 is one dosage, a combination of Tylenol (acetaminophen) and codeine, also an opiate.
I'm not POSITIVE, but I think Tylenol 2 is 20 mg. of codeine, Tylenol 3 is 30 mg. of codeine and Tylenol 4 is 40 mg. of codeine.
So - your question, is there a big difference?
Well, if the Vicodin has a similar "strength" to the Tylenol 3, they would be quite similar. However, I believe even the lowest strength Vicodin would be closer to being similar to Tylenol 4.
Roundabout info, but I hope that might help!
