How did Liberals steal the Environment issue from Conservatives?

I should like to begin with a quiz. What prominent person said the following:

“There is an absolute necessity of waging all-out war against the debauching of the environment. The bulldozer mentality of the past is a luxury we can no longer afford. Our roads and other public projects must be planned to prevent the destruction of scenic resources and to avoid needlessly upsetting the ecological balance.”

The most frequent guesses are: Al Gore, Barbra Streisand, and Ralph Nader

The answer is: Governor Ronald Reagan, in 1970

Conservatives tend to reject extreme environmental policies that destroy industry in favor of marsh insects, scrap fish, and obscure birds. They reject the idea that animal life trumps human life. However, conservatives also hate waste and destruction and want to conserve the environment.

The origional Conservation movement began on the Right. Unfortunately today, the shrill apocalyptic brand of environmentalism (i.e. Al Gore) has won out...for now.

Check this out...at least across the pond they aren't afraid to speak of the false global warming movement:

Skeptical Documentary ‘The Great Global Warming Swindle’ Airs on British TV

With American media falling all over themselves in unbridled adoration for soon-to-be-Dr. Al Gore while they generate totally unwarranted hysteria over climate change, it seems impossible to imagine a televised documentary debunking the junk science surrounding this issue.

Yet, across the Pond, our greatest ally, Great Britain, has done exactly that.

The program is called “The Great Global Warming Swindle,” and the entire must-see video has been posted at Google (h/t Allah and Dan Riehl).

EarthTimes.org reviewed the program on Wednesday:

A documentary titled The Great Global Warming Swindle will be aired on British television by Channel 4 Thursday highlighting that claims global warming is manmade constitutes the ''biggest scam of modern times.''

The documentary dismisses outright the claims that greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activity leads to climate change. Instead, it says the Sun is the real cause for global warming.

Think this will get any attention in America? Regardless of the answer, the article continued:

Directed by film maker Martin Durkin, the documentary disputes the scientific opinion professed in the recent United Nations report, which has said humans are very likely to blame for global warming and that there is no doubt remaining that it is caused by man's use of fossil fuels.

Durkin says the argument of man-made climate change is a lie and the biggest scam of modern times. He describes global warming as "a multibillion-dollar worldwide industry, created by fanatically anti-industrial environmentalists, supported by scientists peddling scare stories to chase funding, and propped up by compliant politicians and the media."

My guess is we let the feel good moon-bats take it from us and I am certain the drive-by media helped steal it. I hope you get a good answer, not just the leftist, brainless garbage that is usually tossed out on yahoo answers.

I think it would be more accurate to say that the Conservatives abandoned the environment. Remember Kyoto?

The problem with environmentalist today is that they are too busy listening to politicians. Many don't understand that the global climatology is inexact. During the 1960s many of the environmental studies showed that there would be a global chilling and a rise of a new ice age. Now it's global warming.

When you say leftist as an insult, it just makes me laugh.

As for it being unfortunate that the left now has this issue, thats because if the Right ever had it, you didnt do anything with it.

Your "marsh insects, scrap fish, and obscure birds" statement pretty much sunk your own argument on the merits of conservative environmentalism.

    Nice job!

Reagan said that to get elected Govenor of California. His environmental stance as President was totally opposite. He and his people started the idea which you know espouse - that saving the environment is akin to giving insects more rights than human. That is such a narrow view and can be used to justify the bulldozing mentality that Reagan rejected in 1970.

Liberals have no ideas of their own except to take your hard earned money and give it to some one who does not care to work.
