It is known as the "Northwest Angle" in Minnesota. It lies at about 49 degrees, 20 min North latitude on the Lake of the Woods. It is actually disconnected from the US and attached to the Canada mainland.

Hmmmm -Lower 48 - I guess that excludes Alaska & Minnesota (since they are the two northernmost states)
That makes it 49th degrees north
Border with Canada - Washington, Idaho, Montana, & North Dakota !
NOPE!
Contiguous 48 is the PROPER TERM!
Northwest angle - Lake of the Woods, Minnesota - IS the correct answer here.
But LOWER 48 is NOT a good term - Especially since Hawaii is the LOWEST (southernmost) state!

Matt is correct. "Lower 48" generally refers to the "contiguous 48" - the 48 that border each other.
the term originated before Hawaii was a state.

That little pointy thing on the top of Minnesota.
And, people who get their undies in a bunch over someone using the term "Lower 48" need to get lives.
